SUSTAINABLE FURNITURE

Designing sustainable furniture for OceanCraft was an interesting and tactile design challenge. Using 100% recycled plastic to design solid, stable, contemporary furniture designs, the sustainable furniture is aimed toward professional and academic businesses looking to invest in a sustainable image. Each piece of furniture takes plastic waste and converts it into unique, bespoke furniture, each colour and pattern is completely individual, no two pieces are the same.

Collaborating with an interior designer, we looked at current design trends and existing furniture styles. Each piece of furniture is modelled in 3D and then printed on a 3D printer to ensure an even mass, and test stability of design. Once each piece is finalised and tested it goes to render and is given a beautiful, polished finish in a variety of styles and colours.

The final products are beautiful, bespoke and highly polished. Each piece of furniture and the finishes that are currently designed are shown in a sales catalogue. I have pledges from the University of Arts Plymouth to act as an exhibition and sales space for the first run of furniture as well as continued support in the growth of a sustainable vision.
