SELF BRANDING

As a designer I've started engaging in more bespoke, physical work lately. Creating beautiful one of a kind pieces of work using wood, metal, leather, plastics... This has given me a whole new direction for my brand and my enjoyment of this new avenue has pushed me to a re-brand. I've always considered my work more toward corporate branding, the digital, UX and UI design. I love apps, I love computers and big business. Discovering this new love has drastically expanded the areas of design and the materials I'm comfortable working in. As such, I wanted a logo that could be a stamp, an iron brand, look good on wood, metal, burnt, burnished, embossed; I wanted a logo that was physical, an extension of my hands. The signature.

My new brand comes from a desire to leave my mark on the projects I partake in. I've chosen to create a fresh new logo in the form of a signature, my signature. No, this won't get you access to my accounts but it does symbolise something, me. Creating a logo in the form of a signature seems simple, there is a "C" in there, a "W" and a "D", Charles Westwood Design, simple, yet I drew it dozens upons dozens of times and spent hours getting the arch of the D just right. This logo now symbolises myself, not just some initials but a signature, my commitment to create work that is unique and exactly what my clients want. So much so that I'm willing to put my name to it.
